Felite has filtration and separation solutions to meet your production and processing needs for hydrometallurgy and mining.
Gold dissolves readily in a number of solvents, including oxidizing solutions of hydrochloric acid and dilute solutions of sodium cyanide. Gold readily dissolves in these solvents thus forming very stable complex ions. Gold can be recovered very easily and economically by ion-exchange methods.
Chelate resins have highly functionalized groups for better selectivity of specially targeted ions. The benefit is to separate targeted ions through a high concentration of competitive ions. Therefore, in brine decalcification, chelate resin with iminodiacetic (IDA) functional group is commonly used in the Chlor-alkali hardness removal process.
These elements can be found in sulfidic ores and always mix with other metals. The ion exchange process is used when Copper, zinc, and nickel from cobalt electrolysis to remove impurities. Due to the wide range of contaminants, chelate resins are the best material commonly used to remove metals.
Naturally occurring, weakly radioactive Uranium in water may increase cancers and Kidney failures. Uranium can be found in the water bodies as UO22+ and with pH > 6 as the uranyl carbonate complexes. Cation resins in hydrogen form can use in Uranium removal in the 90–95% range, but it is not viable due to the pH requirement. Therefore, recently strong base anions (anions with chloride form) are used to remove Uranium efficiently. Rarely mixed bed anion and cation resins help remove Radium and Uranium, but considering Uranium alone, it is more effective to use type-1 and type-2 resins.
Styrene-DVB Copolymers are free flowing, spherical beads made from tough styrenic polymers that have been cross linked with divinylbenzene. They are sold as clear to colorless opaque spheres that are often used as plastic ball bearings.
Styrene-DVB Copolymers are useful for many applications, such as:
Lubrication
Because of their hardness and spherical nature, they act like tiny, plastic ball bearings and have found use in many lubrication applications. One such application is well drilling, where the copolymer is added to the drilling mud for enhanced lubrication in difficult rock formations and in horizontal drilling. Other customers use Styrene-DVB Copolymers to “float” sheet metal in their work area.
Grinding media
Styrene-DVB Copolymers are also useful as grinding media due to their good crush strengths and spherical nature. They have found application in sand blasting and deburringof metal and plastic parts.
Precision fillers
Styrene-DVB Copolymers are made from cross linked polystyrene, so they will not melt at elevated temperatures. The beads can be used as whole beads or ground and used in a wide variety of filler applications. The ground copolymer is often used as a mold release agent.
